Today ACTA launched “Best Practices in Athletic Oversight,” a video discussion introduced by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. The video records the dialogue between University of Maryland Regent, Rhodes Scholar, Olympian and former Congressman Tom McMillen and Brit Kirwan, University System of Maryland Chancellor and co-chair of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. In the video, McMillen—who has had tremendous success championing the idea that student-athletes are students first—reiterated the importance of trustee oversight in college athletics.
